Legislative News

On Friday, June 13, Gov. M. Jodi Rell vetoed Senate Bill 678, a legislative proposal that would have established a Community-Based Health & Human Services Cabinet, which would have been a step in the right direction for adequate state-funding of nonprofits in Connecticut. For more than 20 years, nonprofits have struggled with the state's failure to properly fund nonprofits that provide services on the state's behalf.

We, at Connecticut Association of Nonprofits, are greatly disappointed and puzzled by the governor's decision. Click here to view the entire statement issued by CT Nonprofits. Check out the news coverage on the veto.

Gov. Rell Vetoes HB 5536, An Act Establishing the Connecticut Healthcare Partnership, which would have given nonprofits in the state access to the state employee health plan.

State Attorney General Richard Blumenthal called the veto a "tragic missed opportunity." Click here for news coverage on the veto.
